PBN recently conducted its 2010 Lecture and Workshop series. The final workshop was June 3rd on the new New York State Historic Preservation Tax Credits.
Many of our events and tours are conducted through our Buffalo Tours program. We welcome you to join us on one of about 30 different tours and special events we’ll be offering throughout 2010. There is no better way to understand the heritage and see the treasures of Buffalo and other communities. We conduct a tour of downtown Buffalo every week (daily during the summer) andoffer free tours of Buffalo City Hall every weekday. Seasonally, starting in May, Buffalo Tours sponsor numerous tours of historic places and interesting neighborhoods.
Our largest event for 2010 was the exciting and hugely popular Delaware Neighborhood Tour of Homes, held on August 21st. This event, as described in the Buffalo News, sold out many days in advance, featured 6 mansions on Delaware Avenue and 5 private homes on Oakland Place. An estimated 900 people attended, including paid participants, plus a wonderful cadre of volunteers and home owners. This event was co-sponsored with the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site . The corporate sponsor was Alphagraphics, PBNs printer, that produced a wonderful tour booklet.
We also sponsor an Annual Awards program and these awards are presented at an Annual Luncheon.
Preservation Documentary:
Building on the Past for Our Future
In 2009 we worked with filmmaker Diedie Weng on this documentary as part of Squeaky Wheel’s Channels program. Through this film, Diedie Weng aimed to promote a conversation about low income communities’ efforts and struggles in revitalizing neglected historic Buffalo neighborhoods. We want to help you promote a conversation as well. To arrange a public screening of this film or to procure DVD copies for distribution, contact:
