Erie Community College, the County, Picone Construction and Buffalo Niagara Preservation announced a massive renovation and restoration project that is currently in full swing at the City Campus (Historical Old Buffalo Post office).   This is a 10 million dollar project, with Erie County and State funding,  entails roof and tower repairs, masonry repairs, window restoration, entrances and exits repairs, replacement of stairs, marble replacement, replacement of the roof and more.

• The Buffalo Post Office, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, opened in June 1901 with mailing of its first letter to President William McKinley (who was assassinated in Buffalo at the Pan-Am Exposition several months later). The building was was abandoned and fell into disarray and was scheduled to be demolished until efforts led by several Erie County legislators saved the building.  ECC move into the Old Post Office in 1983
