Formerly home to horse-drawn carriage races and famous as the “Kentucky Derby of the North,” Cicero Hamlin’s land and ambition contributed to Buffalo’s turn-of-the century success. In the early 1900s, 1,500 acres were developed into Buffalo’s first planned subdivision, bordering on Frederick Law Olmsted’s original Humboldt Parkway.
